American Ballet Theatre celebrated its landmark season at Avery Fisher Hall on October 7, 2009. The program featured the New York City premieres of three new works by Aszure Barton, Benjamin Millepied and ABT Artist in Residence Alexei Ratmansky, followed by a black-tie dinner-dance on Avery Fisher Hall's grande promenade. The evening also included the presentations of The Melville Straus Leadership Achievement Award to Susan Fales-Hill, and of The Northern Trust Award to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School student James Applewhite.
The 2009 Fall Gala was Co-Chaired by Muffie Potter Aston and Sherrell Aston, Lisa and Dick Cashin, Cosby and Tim George, Anne Grauso and Julia and David Koch. Daniel Capello was Junior Co-Chair. Iman and Veronica Webb were Honorary Chairs and Paul and Lisa Wigdor were Corporate Co-Chairs. Superfund was the sponsor of the 2009 Fall Gala.
