Avery Fisher Hall: Oct 7-10, 2009
This fall, ABT brings three bold premieres center stage from three
of today’s visionary choreographers: ABT’s Artist in
Residence, Alexei Ratmansky creates a new, intimate work inspired
by the brilliant piano sonatas of the Italian composer Domenico
Scarlatti; Benjamin Millepied, who New York Magazine recently
called “one of ballet’s most promising young choreographers,”
conceives a large ensemble piece for eight ABT couples; and Canadian
Aszure Barton, who has developed energetic, often riotously complex
choreography, crafts her premiere set to a Violin Sonata by Maurice
Ravel. Plus, ABT offers two repertory encores in Jerome Robbins’
stylish and romantic Other Dances and Clark Tippet’s
witty and probing pas de deux,
Some Assembly Required.
All performed with the dramatic artistry and thrilling bravura of
ABT’s world-class dancers for ONE WEEK ONLY at Lincoln Center’s
